We each attended MTC for two months for our first missions over 30 yrs ago.
We left home on the morning of 11th November and drove ourselves to MTC in Provo to spend two weeks in training. First week covering Preach My Gospel and missionary skills, then the second week in our office duties.
We met wonderful couples serving all over the world and enjoyed the experiences we had there. One of our favorite experiences was connecting with the younger missionaries at meal time and getting to know them, where they were from and where they were heading. Some amazing stories.
We met three young men from Papua New Guinea heading to Fiji, several missionaries from Japan heading to other missions in Japan (they send them over to Provo MTC for training), a wonderful Sister from Melbourne heading to Cambodia and two sets of missionaries heading to our mission in Tokyo North. We just loved encouraging them and feeling of their wonderful experiences.
They had some inspiring meetings with General Authorities and also with the MTC President and leaders.
We were blessed to get to spend time in our second week with our dear friends, Elder & Sister Stromilo from Brisbane Australia, who were heading to the New Zealand Hamilton Mission as Mission Health Advisors.
Before we knew it our time was up and we were done and ready to head to our assignment in Tokyo. A lot of frantic last minute packing and a race to the airport to catch our plane, and teary goodbyes to our two kids in Utah before heading to Toyko.
